Worcester P25 800MHz Trunked (unknown talk groups need identifying)

#1 Post by sawyer100 » 04 Jul 2019 22:35

Wed 7/3/19, heard, but each one is scrambled or encrypted: 4373, 4375, 4379, 4387, 4393, 4397

none of these six (6) are in the WIKI. Any idea what/who they are (i.e. FD, PD, school, parks, DPW, etc) ?

All these talkgroups are for the PD (encrypted). I have identified a few as they move to another talkgroup (unit on F1 says go to F4 and they show up on a different talkgroup).

4375 is PD F4 (used to be traffic enforcement on the old EDACS system)
4379 is PD F6 (used to be TAC 1 on the old EDACS system)
4393 is PD F9 (unknown use)

Thank you franciedog for your help! At least I can alpha tag them with the correct channel #/alpha name.

Can you confirm that isn't a typo? That TG is already in the wiki as DCR-FIRE 1. (691 digital *16=11056 analog)

On the old system, every division had their own channel 4. So there was an operations-4, a traffic-4, etc. I have not listened to or tried to track down their encrypted channels, so I have no idea if the new system is set up the same way.

MEMA Dispatches for DCR, so likely they keyed up all channels from the Console or patched for some reason.

691 Digital = 11056 Analog = DCR Fire-1

My Uniden BCD996P2 scanner, I have it in {search mode/ID search} when I monitor the Worcester P25 system. It definitely showed:

screen:

691 {this row is the alias alpha tag. When no tag, it displays the t/g #}
691 {where it displays the talk group number}.

Now when MEMA was talking on the Worc system, the outbound audio was P25 digital, not analog. Now I used my 2nd BCD996P2 and locked it on the MEMA VHF rptr (i.e. Princeton 151.4525 Rptr PL 229.1}. So I was hearing the MEMA VHF first, and about 1.25 seconds later it was coming out the Worc system as P25 digital audio, same conversation. So the Worc system must hear the MEMA VHF, and it transfers it over to P25 digital audio.

I guess it could be possible MEMA transfers it out MSP 800 as DCR-1, but that means Worc rebroadcasts the DCR-1 talk group, which I have never heard. Unfortunately I didn't have a chance to jump my 2nd BCD996P2 to the DCR-1 talk group and see if came out there, or not.

I snapped a cell phone pic of my screen. It does say 691 on the two rows. and I have the MSP800 & Worc800 as separate systems in my scanners, so it doesn't confuse control channels/freqs, etc.

These systems are all tied into the core in Framingham and that is where MEMA dispatches from. See Bill's post above it was probably a console mistake.

I just saw TG 691 (which I had as DCR Field Ops but I guess that's wrong) come up on the 700MHz overlay in Boston with the same audio that was going out on MEMA UHF 471.6875 NAC606 in Boston with a Severe Thunderstorm Warning so once again they seemed to be simulcasting across the console. But 691 obviously leaves the core and goes far beyond just the Worcester system as I don't even get that here in Newton.

Field Ops = 671 / 10736

MEMA Dispatches for DCR, so it is very likely they do an ALL Channels for these Weather Alerts

Correct, any weather related broadcast is simulcasted over MEMA VHF, MEMA 800MHz, DCR VHF and DCR 800MHz. Also the 0800 and 2000 hours radio ID will also come over all of them.
