Interesting stuff John, thanks.

It seems that Kenwood has bought EF Johnson and now sells their "Viking" brand of radios.

Here is a PDF from FRCOG with more detailed pricing and equipment options. It seems as if Marcus is the preferred vendor for Kenwood.

Bill will be happy to see that Vehicle Repeaters are an optional using either Pyramid or Futurecom units. ;)

It would be nice. I wonder if there is a requirement to destroy existing equipment?

No requirements to destroy existing subscriber units at least at the county (FRCOG) level. About the only caveat so far has been you're only eligible to receive as many subsidized units as you already have existing, not how many you *wish* you had.

Prepare to see a glut of UHF mainstays like HT1250's, CDM1550's, and even some newer CM300d's hitting the .gov auction sites over the next year or two.

Looks like Motorola massaged the prices quite a bit.

And those Pac/RT's [according to the various FOGs are int he 700 band, but no one has found/reported them in use]
