File request: Cape & Islands for SDS 100

Post by Jgorm614 »

Does anyone have one that they could share. When I was down last June my trusty ‘ol PSR 500 was alive as can be! But the SDS 100 was mostly silent!

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.

What are you using to program it?

I think I have a file you can use from my SDS100. I can export it from ProScan to an .HPE which is compatible with Sentinel.

I have attached my MSP file for Cape Cod. You wouldn't want my conventional file, as it has a ton of no PL conventional frequencies built around searching, mostly for businesses and what not.

Thank you Mike! I’ll get to it tomorrow. I use Sentinel and Pro Scan. Not sure why my file didn’t work so well last time. You might be surprised what I’d like! Bill and I have corresponded quite a bit over the years!

But again, I’ll take a look in th AM! Much appreciated!

If Mike's doesn't work out for you I can provide one as well. I'll reiterate here that I've found shutting off the global filter in the SDS models seems (in my case anyway) to improve analog reception. As with these filters in general, results widely vary, but I have taken my SDS100 mobile on numerous occasions and it seems to do fine when using the full database and being programmed by GPS.

I really have to remember to experiment with that as a number of people report having better results with filtering set to off.

I think that with the people we have updating the RR database the updated Sentinel database will work just fine

Out of the box the global filter is defaulted to "Normal" (which IMHO is anything but...) . I wish filtering could be taken down to the individual channel level but I suppose that will never happen. I'd think maybe a firmware update could do it, but the way it's set up now for systems is inadequate. Sorry, getting off topic here but it is noteworthy.

I asked that question of Paul Optiz and his reply was that there just wasn't enough capacity in the hardware to store that many settings. Which makes sense I guess.

Of course filters were initially not meant for release to the customer base and my thought is that once they were they were never fully developed.

Mike,

Your file came across just fine. Much appreciated. A question and request please?

The question. Since the Cape is an "old school" system then a lot of the gyrations that go with the 100 are not necessary? Correct? IE filters? Location control? Etc.

The request. Send me your "Bill" file or any others you think I may enjoy when I go down to the Cape! Always open for fun!

And I will have the "trusty" PSR 500 and a couple other radios with me too!

Thanks! Joe

OOPS One more...anything on the new CoMIRS over that way yet? Probably not!

Thanks!

Years away for the Cape.

Nearest to them is Massport, Cambridge, some Dept of Correction, the 700 Metro Boston Overlay and then the Massport (Logan Airport etc)

I thought SE Mass and the Cape were first in line for the upgrades?
