NEAR-Fest is not optional!! NEAR-Fest XVII Friday and Saturday May 1st & 2nd

Post by ScanBoston »

Who is going to NEAR-Fest XVII Friday and Saturday May 1st & 2nd at the Deerfield Fairgrounds???

As I always remind people who say that can't go..... NEAR-Fest is not optional!!

Anyways...
NEAR-Fest XVII http://near-fest.com is about two weeks away.

Below is this years official frequency list for all attending and we have a huge announcement!!

The W1ASS Epson NH repeater is back on the air better than ever and is still on 443.850. Its 88.5 and now both in and out as it once was. However in addition it is now mixed mode P25 with a NAC of 353!!! This is fantastic news as this repeater reaches way down into Massachucetts and is full quieting portable on the fairgrounds. I always tell folks if you add one channel to your radio for NEAR-Fest this should be it. P25 folks this is the busiest couple of days for Epson please listen mixed mode and yield to analog use.

I can't go Friday nite but definitely planning to be there on Saturday! :) I will program up my UHF P25 portable for EpsoM (not EpsoN BTW). My UHF P25 portable is a Kenwood TK-5310K3 380-470MHz version. I also have a 450-520 version but it won't work in the 440 band (craps out around 448MHz).

I agree, NEAR-fest is not optional. It's almost criminal if I don't go. :)

Neither. My wife broke her ankle in 3 places in February. I've used pretty much all of my vacation time up for that, and I'm working OT Saturday. Maybe in the fall.

Can't they coordinate this with the Sweeps Months in TV? No vacation time in "the book".
I am a negative for this one. Maybe in the fall.

I will be there as always! Find me on the GEMOTO portable 900 repeater (927.5875) or 145.390 simplex.

Hello,

I am planning on going today, at least. I am not looking for anything, but I never know before I see it. I am usually on the GEMOTO 900 portable repeater, and sometimes DMR simplex.

Yes it is, and sadly they've decided to move it to a weekend where I annually have something planned. What is the reason for extending it out two weeks from where it used to be? I'm sure there's a viable one....just one that doesn't fit my schedule, and we all know it's all about me, Mister...

I believe it's because earlier in October is when the actual "Deerfield Fair" takes place.

Could be, but if I remember correctly this was not an issue when Hosstraders was held at Deerfield many years ago. Maybe the fair date got changed. In any event, I won't be there because of the change. Disappointing, but that's the way it is.

Historically, Hosstraders was always held Mother's Day Weekend and Columbus Day weekend. It was always the weekend after the fair.
