The Goffstown 900 repeater is down again, and I think all 3 W1ASS 900s could now be gone for good.

I'm actually going to get up there this year. Probably the first time since the 80s. I got into vintage radio restoration big time during COVID isolation, and I'm readying my Heathkit HW-16 & VFO for sale. I really don't want to deal with ePay and shipping and fees, so Deerfield is perfect: dump my unused ham gear, and maybe pick up a restorable 1950s shortwave receiver, and/or test equipment.

Heck, looks like I need to buy a cheap handheld with an actual PTT button for the weekend. :D

I'm looking for advice & hints about the upcoming NEAR-FEST from those of you who are familiar with previous ones. I haven't been to Deerfield for decades--long before NEAR-FEST starting running the show-- and I will be taking a modest amount of stuff with me to sell. I have my advance tickets, including an inside parking pass. I'm assuming I just drive in with the SUV, find a spot, set up a small folding table and chair and sell what I've got, right?

Any advice regarding best and worst times to arrive? Best and worst places to try and park? Anything else I should know?

Thanks in advance.

You can roll in and set up at 9am on Friday. So if selling is your goal you want to be in line just before 9am. Some folks get there real early to get in the front of the line but I don't think it's really worth it as the line moves in real quickly. The folks that run the event do let clubs who go every event and help clean up have a limited number of early passes to claim their traditional spaces. So those folks will already be there when you roll in but other than that all the additional spaces are up for grab. Not sure it really matters where you are if you have good stuff folks will find you.

Possibly. I went to NEAR-Fest XXVI (i.e. October 2019) and obviously, COVID put the kibosh on anything since. I'm pretty busy in October (with the Marathon and possibly the Regatta) but if I can find the days off (surprisingly, the dates in October are actually all filled at my job) I'll be there.

Just booked my 99 dollar room at the The Holiday Inn 2280 Brown Avenue, Manchester NH (Exit 2 off I-293) (603) 641-6466. They offer the same amenities as the other hotel but they also have a full service restaurant.

I'll see you both! Some really bad news is that the Epsom NH repeater that we all love for travels up and back to communication on site is broken. It appears to work to the user but passes no audio in analog or P25. All attempts to contact the trustee have failed. We will have the 900 MHz repeaters going on site. We could obviously try to pick another NH repeater but at this late date, I know from experience that there isn't time to get everyone programmed up. I myself will try to keep an ear on DMR just not sure which talk group? Probably MA Statewide or NE Wide?? On site

Who is going up on Friday? It's my plan to be there by 0900 or shortly thereafter. Hoping to see and re-see some of you folks. Maybe we should arrange a time for a get together. John I'm guessing you and your group will be in the usual spot so I'll know where to find you.

Friday is my only possible day, but it'll be nice to get back for a day anyway.

I will be there both days. In at 8am. The Epsom repeater is still not working however someone is going to it on Wednesday in the hope of getting it going. It may need parts and we may run out of time with that. I will throw my DMR radio back in if that doesn't get fixed and be monitoring MA Statewide. Maybe we should pick an area restaurant to hit before folks make the journey back Friday night??? I know there is a LongHorn Steakhouse in Bedford NH??

900 Repeater will be on site and I will have 4 loaners with me.

I'll be there both days, I was able to get Friday off finally after something else at work fell through. Anyways, I'll most likely be over by Relaxation Grove with someone else from the NSRA club selling off some SK stuff for the club, though I'll probably take a walk around at some points during the two days.

Hello,

It will likely be Friday only for me, since Saturday has that dreaded four letter word in the forecast.

I will be around, and will stop at the GEMOTO group, BARS group, and the Nut Net Group (where WO1VES usually sets up near the relaxation grove) during the day.
