I am thinking of driving down so I can load up on boat anchors. Hopefully I will not have a furnace incident while down south and get frozen pipes. Anyone else driving?

We should charter a bus with luggage storage below and sell tickets.

I bought my tickets and made an AirBnB reservation a short distance away from the fairground. It is going to be part of a bigger road trip of visiting some old haunts in the Coco Beach area and visiting a cousin down in the Everglades. It will give this snowbird a chance to thaw out a bit. Hopefully I will see a few of my Ham friends down south.

I have decided to go. I didn't find a driving copilot so I'm flying but I have airline tickets, hotel reservation and a rental car so it's on my first Hamcation! Just been searching Florida P25 frequencies and I found a bunch. Don't think I'll bother bringing a mobile for the rental car but i will have my APX8000 all programmed up. Be interested in hearing who else is going. I think this may be my repeater 442.075R NAC A55 103.5 in Bithlo. But I will have the radio loaded.

I thought I heard mention of someone bringing 900 MHz down to HamCation. Are people planning on using 900 MHz or some other band?

No repeater making the journey from up here that I'm aware of. Only hams from up here going that I know of are KC1HO Steve, N1AP Tony, K1BOS John and you WB1HBU Eric. Tony reached out and found out and confirmed that the two UHF P25 repeaters in the area are down. Steve thinks 927.05 is P25 with a NAC $A55 and that may work in that area? Otherwise we will have to slum it on analog. https://www.hamcation.com/cfl-repeaters. We will need to come up with a couple of dinner spots. https://oarc.org/club-cfl-repeaters.cfm

Wish I was going.

For those of you driving from here that aren't familiar with this, consider doing yourself a considerable favor after you get over the Delaware Memorial Bridge and into Delaware. Look for the exit for Route 13 South. Once you get on it you'll actually pass HRO Delaware which is in a strip mall on your right not long after getting off of the highway. Follow 13 and look for the signs for Route 301 south. It is all divided highway and far less traveled than I95 which is horrible. It will eventually turn into route 50 when you get into Maryland and you will cross the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and pass Annapolis. Continue on that road and you will merge into the Washington Beltway. It's a nice bypass to the corridor between the bridge and Baltimore/DC.

Safe travels, have fun, send pictures, and enjoy the warmth, although Orlando can throw definite curveballs in that category at this time of year.

Make that one more John! I pulled together some list minute plans and will be heading down to Hamcation too.

If we're 100% on 900 I'll bring my 900 radio but I'll definately have VHF and UHF P25 so we should come up with a simplex channel for use on site.

Cool!!

Simplex 446.200 131.8 N293 We will have some folks that don't have P25 so we will probably be analog or Mixed mode. (Program the PL for receive too.)

But I will have 900 too. I'm going to put a bunch of the local repeaters in a zone from this list https://www.hamcation.com/cfl-repeaters So I'll have two portables.

Well we didn't end up using 446.200, but we did monitor it... we ended up talking over the 443.05 Orlando Downtown repeater which worked great all over! We also discovered the Pine Hills mixed mode P25 repeaters.

Overall it was quite a success, I got a hardly used SDS200 in box for $425 and a BC796D for $75.

Great to see the other SNE and GEMOTO attendees. I also met a couple of AMSAT and SDRplay friends.

I got a great deal on a Motorola XTS5000R Model 3 UHF R1 with battery, charger, and speaker mike for $250. It is in great shape. It has full front panel programming so I could easily enter the Orlando Analog Rptr, GEMOTO Simplex, and the Pine Hills P25 repeater without the programing cable.

The inside fleamarket is dense. The outside fleamarket is spread out. I noticed several people selling recent service monitors for 3K and up. I saw a couple of Watkins-Johnson receivers. it was a great time.
