TETRA

Post by W1KNE »

Tetra, while rarely used, is used in the US a little.
Some of the other National Grid systems in the US use it. Tetra is very popular in Europe and Canada.

Scott earlier mentioned this

TETRA used to stand for Trans European Trunked Radio but I believe it doesn't have any meaning now.

Hello,

Transit companies like NJ Transit, STM (Montreal) and TTC (Toronto) also use it. STM is only using it for the Montreal Metro, while their buses use P25 Phase 2. The STM system is interesting as it only has one above ground site and many tunnel sites. It is still being built out. I wanted to do some monitoring when I was scheduled to go up to Montreal in August. I had to cancel due to border closure.

I believe one of the Connecticut Casinos used it when they first opened? Not anymore.

I don't believe TETRA was allowed in the US back when the casinos started. Anyway, Mohegan Sun started out with MPT-1327 before the current CON+ system. Foxwoods started with Passport before the current Nexedge 9600 baud system.
