158.425 Analog

Post by Scott »

Some "colorful" communications in my area on this frequency. This is not an actual frequency as per the bandplan; closest is 158.4225. It is definitely maritime in nature given some talk about anchors etc., periodic harsh language, and relatively strong from Mashpee. No CTCSS/DCS tones, and simplex.

I would concur, someone has a foreign or modified VHF Marine Radio or found how to set "Selected" Secret channels.

Many of the older ICOM [M55 is one] Marine radios had a Private Set of channels. This is was Ch.108 in duplex
Scott see if you get the other pair from the Duplex at 163.0250 [Yes, in our Federal Band]

I'm hearing both sides of the conversation. Another possibility is cheap Chinese radios. I'd actually think that was a more likely possibility. Either way, the conversation goes on as I type this. Definitely fishermen.

There is nothing on 163.025.

At one point in the conversation Wings Neck was mentioned. That is a peninsula that extends into the east side of Buzzards Bay in the Town of Bourne. So they are "pretty local" to me.
