VSP Williston P25

Post by VermontCUCV »

Dispatcher just announced that all units will be switching to digital at 0930 today.

Let’s share our findings thereafter; I will probably be out of range by then.

It appears I’m past the editing window for this…

The NAC is 0A1.

They also put the 156.7 tone on 155.4875, at least in A1 cruisers. Unknown if it’s on RX as well as TX. I heard two troopers talking about the radio work as I was logging the tone for the first time on that frequency— how’s that for coincidence? Never had that happen before except for hearing radio techs.

Is this both the Mt Mansfield and Hyde sites?
They're a bit far for me to actually monitor

Good point; I’m only able to hear 460.225R in my area, so that’s what I referring to.

It is with a heavy heart that I report that the dreaded “E” is being used on 460.2250R sometimes.

Since I can’t hear what’s being said, I’m not sure if it’s only certain units or certain situations, but at least one cruiser was running encrypted yesterday. Dispatch never was.

Reminds me of back in the late 1970s when Boston PD got their first Micor radios. They had a switch marked M/M. That would switch the radios to direct mode so that cruisers could talk directly on the dispatch channels without going through the repeater. Cops were hitting that by mistake and couldn't talk to the dispatchers.

After a few months, the radio shop strapped those switches so that there was no more mobile to mobile mode.

50 years later and cops are still crippled by a direct button

Most people in public safety are not radio people. That's why Boston Fire Alarm will direct apparatus going on mutual aid to got to "Zone 2, Channel 5."

That's why after a long battle to have the "no scanner' rule at Boston EMS eliminated, followed by scanners installed by the agency, about 5% of the people actually turned them on.

Can add A3 Berlin 453.4250 N0A3 to the confirmed list.

Monitoring last week heard lots of routine operations as well as troopers testing with "state radio maintenance" in digital on A1 Williston/Mansfield and A3 Berlin.

No other digital heard on VSP frequencies over two days of casual monitoring.

Yes. 460.4250 typo in my notes. Just went back and checked that's the frequency I had in the scanner.
