Brockton Fire

Post by garys »

Testing Channels 1 & 2 with the repeaters knocked down. Not something I've ever heard before.

Hearing the repeater now. Wish I could have caught that when it happened, or tried. They have one flamethrower of a system; always full quiet copy here on the Cape for me.

It would just mean the mobiles/portables wouldn't be repeated. The receivers would come back to the comparator and be heard at the consoles but go no further. When they keyed the console audio would go over the air without the rest. You might hear them over speakers in the background when they were keyed but when they dropped it would go away.

Oddly, when they tested Channel 2 I heard the mobiles repeated, but no dispatch audio.

They also tested the various alert tones, but that was later.

That likely explains the anomaly. They're still VHF as their primary and the UHF's are strictly cross bands

PO-TAY_TOE, PO-TAH_TOE! :)

It's really so borderline that sometimes I forget that for forum purposes northern Plymouth County is Southeast MA.
