Metro Ambulance

Post by garys »

There's a new ambulance company operating out of Woburn. Metro Ambulance is a recent start up and I saw one of their ambulances in the Burlington area yesterday. They apparently only have two or maybe three ambulances only at this point.

https://www.metroambulance.org/

The current hiring page says "paramedics" and the picture of the interior of an ambulance shows AlS equipment. I just don't know if they are operating at the ALS level or if that is stock photo.

I have no idea on communications and didn't even know it was a MA licensed ambulance when I saw it.

From what I was told, he's a firefighter in one of the communities up there. Active or retired I don't remember which.

There was a Metro Ambulance out of Dorchester about 40 years ago. It didn't last long and someone else eventually bought the assets, maybe Reardon Ambulance. Which is also no longer around.

Okay. I *think* he may have worked for Armstrong at one time. Don't know him personally, but know people who know people who know him. Sort of.

They have a very unique radio system. Each truck has a dedicated radio tied to a LTE gateway so essential each truck operates a repeater so they can have portable coverage in the vicinity of their trucks .

They operate on 471.1500 but because they are only transmitting of a 2 story building and out of each of their trucks, they signal doesn't make it very far.

That's interesting. I may plug it into a scanner since I'm up that way fairly often.
